Annual talent show of intellectually challenged trainees of Karachi Vocational Training Centre (KVTC) was held at the school's auditorium. Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan was the chief guest, along with many highly respected members of the community and the business sector.
The KVTC's staff and trainees outdid themselves this year as they put up a great show with a host of vibrant and enthralling performances to a captivated and cheering audience. Performances included well co-ordinated dances, comedy skits, a mind blowing Karate display complete with flying kicks and breaking bricks and floorboards lit on fire, and a unique act simply called 'Colours' which covered the entire stage with all the colours of the rainbow represented by Dupattas made by the trainees themselves.
Senator Haseeb Khan lauded the efforts Dr Inam-ur-Rahman Khan, Mrs Robina Inam, and KVTC's teachers have made over the past 20 years for the welfare of intellectually challenged people in Karachi and expressed his great pride in being associated with the KVTC.
Senator Abdul Haseeb offered a plot of 2000 sq yard in Karachi to expand facilities of the centre for special children. Karachi Vocational Training Centre (KVTC) is a rehabilitation centre for the mentally challenged preparing them for the challenges in life and to make them better, more competent people who can play a role in the society, regardless of their disabilities.
Over the past 20 years, the KVTC has proved with unparalleled success that mentally challenged people can learn trade, hold jobs, earn livelihoods and live independently. Despite the limited resources available to the centre, over 400 graduated trainees are currently employed in various jobs all over the city through their Job Placement Services, working efficiently and earning incomes just as any normal person. Some have even started their own families and live contently amongst us in society's mainstream.-PR
