A number of people protested against the arrest of Tehreek Haqooq-e-Mianwali (THM) representatives at Railway station chowk here while traders observed strike against load shedding for the third consecutive day on Wednesday. Police reportedly arrested the leaders of Tehreek Haqooq-e-Mianwali despite the assurances by Provincial Minister for Zakat & Ushr Nadeem Kamran. The protestors burnt tyres and raised slogans against the district government.
Two people were killed on Tuesday while a number of protestors were injured during an unprecedented protest against the load shedding in the district generating 1000 MW of electricity. Its estimated requirement is 100MW of power. Kuchehri Bazaar, Main Bazaar, Liaqat Bazaar and Muslim Bazaar remained completely closed while some other markets were being shut forcibly by the protestors. Those arrested include president Kuchehri bazar union, Malik Falak Sher Awami, Journalist Rana Muhammad Idrees, Babar Khan Swansi, Muhammad Iqbal Darvesh and others.
