Punjab Provincial Co-operative Bank Ltd provided Rs 1.5782 billion agriculture loans to 67,800 small farmers through 9,064 co-operative societies till 30th June 2011 for sowing and maturing Kharif crops including cotton, rice, sugarcane, maize and vegetables. The co-operative bank will continue to lend loans to the farmers till 16th July 2011.
President and Chief Executive of PPCBL Liaquat Durrani told that the bank with co-operation of the Co-operatives Department is continuing its campaign for the recovery of agricultural loans extended for sowing and maturing of 2010-2011 Rabi crops. So far the bank has recovered Rs 1.60 billion from the farmers. He has advised members of the bank's staff to strictly follow the schedule of issuance and recovery of the loans so that maximum number of small farmers could benefit from banks' various loan schemes/products prepared to boost agricultural production in the province.
