Secretary, Health, Punjab, Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, has said that promotion of private clinics and hospitals by the doctors sitting in government hospitals would not be tolerated and action would be taken against those paramedics who lure the patients of government hospitals for private treatment. He said that Medical Superintendents should take solid steps to control the unnecessary expenditures, and protect the government property as their own.
He said this while presiding over a meeting in his office here on Saturday to review the flood arrangements and the performance of District, Tehsil Headquarters Hospitals; RHCs and BHUs of district Rajanpur. Addl Secretary Health (Estab) Daud Muhammad Khan, Addl Secretary (Dev) Moazzam Usman, Addl Secretary (Tech) Dr Mushtaq Sulehriya, AS (Admn) Khursheed Zaidi, Director General, Health, Punjab, Dr Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry, DS (PM) Saleha Saeed, Director, HIMS, Dr Anwar Janjua, EDO, Health, Rajanpurm and Medical Superintendents of DHQ and THQ Hospitals attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed in detail progress of health sector development schemes, arrangements for malaria and dengue fever control and polio coverage. Secretary, Health, expressed his displeasure over the slow process of the arrangements for fogging and anti-mosquito spray to control malaria and dengue fever and directed that all such arrangements must be completed without further delay as the rains have already started. He stressed upon the efficient use of funds, timely payment of utility bills and directed that special steps should also be taken for saving energy.
Jehanzeb said that EDO, Health, as the District Health Manager is fully responsible for the performance of hospitals and rural health centres of the concerned district and he would be held responsible for poor performance. The Secretary directed the Medical Superintendents of government hospitals to ensure punctuality and discipline in the hospital. He said that rude attitude of doctors and paramedics with patients or their attendants would not be tolerated.
