Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Sindh police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested goods' lifters in separate raids and recovered huge quantity of merchandise including Nato goods from the criminals' possession. According to DSP Wasif Qureshi, a team of SIU on a tipoff conducted a raid at F.B industrial area and arrested three persons namely Muhammad Sabir, Munir and Shahid Ali and recovered export-container of rice from a godown of Humza in the jurisdiction of Mochko police station.
Following the said raid, a case 202/11 was registered by Mochko police against these culprits. He said the culprits during initial course of investigation revealed that they had also dumped huge quantity of automobile oil, which would have been supplied to Nato in Afghanistan, in a godown of Adnan located in Mangopir area. Reacting on this information, a team raided at the said warehouse and recovered 180 cartons of automobile oil besides arresting two other accomplices namely Muhammad Ahmad and Sona Khan. Mangopir police had also lodged a FIR 263/11 against the crime. Moreover, the DSP said, the culprits had further pointed out that they had also concealed hundreds of cartons of motorbike spare parts at a place located in Gadap town. Later, a consignment of 163 cartons of the same were recovered from the said place and a case (266/11) was registered.
He said this gang, which was being operated by 13 members, used to sell these looted goods to the accused Azhar in Punjab and added that they had also looted several consignments of sugar in the province. Wasif informed that raids are being conducted to arrest their other accomplices namely Ali Hassan Barohi, Mota Sindhi, Sikandar Chandio, Salam alias Salamo, Deedar Mirani, Rahim Jamali, Sikandar Mallah and Azharuddin. Further investigation into the case is underway.
