Investigators dispelled the impression of any disruptive activity in Tuesday's bus explosion at Islamabad Expressway, saying that the blast was neither cylinder explosion nor by explosive, but it depicts that the explosion occurred due to gas leakage from the ill-fated vehicle.
The forensic expert of Explosive Department of Ministry of Industries, Haroon Rehman told the media that after complete examination of the ill-fated bus and all four cylinders and the steel pipeline of the vehicle, he reached the conclusion that there was no cylinder explosion or use of any explosive.
He said that the bus caught fire due to leakage of compressed gas from any of the four cylinders. The leaked gas gathered in the bus and due to cigarette or any heat from silencer it burnt, he added. The ill-fated mini-bus, which faced fire followed by explosion and its cylinders were shifted to Koral Police Station from Islamabad Expressway, the place of incident, where forensic experts examined the bus to determine the cause of the fire.
It is pertinent to note that the Kallar Syeddan-bound Coaster No LES-8932 caught fire due to explosion on Tuesday resultantly 10 persons burnt alive. Confusion emerged when police declared it a cylinder explosion, while all four cylinders found intact after fire was extinguished. The rescue workers and some eyewitnesses rejected the police statement of cylinder explosion and declared it bomb explosion, as they found all four cylinders un-damaged.
