The Acting President of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) Ziauddin addressed a press conference along with 45 to 50 associations of business community at Hyderabad Chamber. He, in his address, said that under commissioner system, administrative powers are transferred to bureaucracy due to which the developmental works could suffer.
He added that the business community, therefore, urged that the District Government System be restored with immediate effect and changes of district boundaries be avoided as the people have to travel long distances for their petty problems. He said that even the people of new districts are not in favour of commissioner system and they protest against territorial changes in district boundaries. He further added that business community is mentally disturbed over the current uncertainty prevailing in the province of Sindh. He said that we would like to speak with the government for improving the condition of the province.
He said that for improvement in business and industrial activities, better infrastructure and peaceful environment is necessary. Hyderabad Chamber is striving for improvement in business and industrial activities and is simultaneously trying for the welfare of citizens of Hyderabad and improvement in Hyderabad city. He said Hyderabad Chamber drew attention of the former Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali towards the deteriorated condition of infrastructure of the city and got approved a developmental package worth Rs 10.5 billion for the benefit of Hyderabad city.
He added that the former District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jameel made proper use of this developmental package and always admired the role of the Hyderabad Chamber for the betterment of Hyderabad. Ziauddin said the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry always forwarded its suggestions for the welfare of general public. But unfortunately the state of uncertainty in the province has adverse effects on the business and industrial activities due to which the business community is worried. Business community wishes to see that the brotherhood is established between the people living in Sindh province. The government should issue administrative orders and make rules in accordance with the wishes of the people and stakeholders so that peace and harmony is established in the province.
The business community feels that with the abolishment of Sindh local government ordinance 2001 the municipal system would be disturbed and the new system would take months to establish it self. During this period the public would face problems of health and sanitation. With issuance of new orders previous position of the old districts is restored which would add to the problems of the people of the province. Due to administrative pressure on single head the developmental works could suffer. Prior to the district government system Hyderabad city was converted in to debris, District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil developed the Hyderabad city to it new shape. He was able to establish communication system in the city due to which the citizens were benefited as facilities were provided to everyone at their doorsteps.
He introduced modern developmental schemes and reduced difference between urban and rural areas and provided facilities for the promotion of economic and business activities. He added that peaceful conditions have direct impact on business and industrial activities. Therefore, the government should take positive steps so that peace and tranquility prevails, economy of the country improves, which in turn may generate more jobs for the people reducing poverty from the country. Presently more attention is needed to solve the problem of energy crises, which is necessary for the improvement of the economy on sound footings.
