Pakistan's tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi expressed his disappointment over his performance in the Davis Cup. Pakistan was beaten 0-4 by Korea in the tie with Aisam losing in both singles and doubles matches. Aisam returned home after participating in the Davis Cup in South Korea and was talking to the mediamen at the Allam Iqbal International Airport, Lahore.
"It was a pretty disappointing result for us because we tried very hard and played hard but luck did not favour us at all," he said. He pointed out that being forced to play away from home had affected the team's performance in the elite Davis Cup event.
He said in present circumstances Pakistani players have to go abroad and play and they do not get enough time for adjustments. Aisam said that he was among the top 25 players in the US Open last year and now in top 8. Next year he will become the first tennis representative of Pakistan in the upcoming Olympics. He said that the country can get promoted to the Davis Cup World Group if the International Tennis Federation allows it to host its ties at home.
