Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) has decided to launch new development projects worth Rs 1.25 billion during the current fiscal year. The PIE Chairman S M Tanvir revealed this while presided over a meeting here on Thursday. These projects have been approved at a meeting of the PIE Board of Directors, he said.
According to the plan, three new industrial estates at Vehari, Rahimyar Khan and Bhalwal are being setup which will have Halal Parks integral to them. Multan Industrial Estate will also be upgraded to facilitate South Punjab, as special funds have been allocated for this purpose. Pakistan Drug Testing and Research Centre (PDTRC) - an international standard Pharma Laboratory for inspection of drugs, certification and construction of a commercial complex at Sundar Industrial Estate is also part of new development projects of PIEDMC.
He said that in connection with promotion of Halal products in the country and province of Punjab, the issuance of certificates will also the responsibility of PIEDMC. He said that in line with the Punjab Chief Minister's vision, three new industrial estates are being established and an industrial estate in South Punjab being upgraded.
Chairman, PIEDMC further said the company's reserves have been reached to approximately one billion rupees. The credit of this turnaround goes to its Directors, present Management and employees, who had not only stabilised the organisation but put it on the path of progress and prosperity.
He said that the PIEDMC was the most successful model of public private partnership where the private sector had produced leadership and it had performed wonderfully. He said that the new development programmes had been initiated from the company's own resources while no funds have been taken from the provincial government.
