With a view to improve co-ordination amongst various government departments, NGOs and other Civil Society Organisations necessary efforts are required for creating awareness and to ensure implementation of Child Rights Laws. This was stated by the speakers in an interactive workshop organised by Children Complaint Office (CCO) Ombudsman Punjab here in a local hotel.
According to details CCO, Ombudsman, Punjab held the workshop in order to implementation strategy for laws on children rights for effective children grievances redressal system. Focal person Ehsan Ghani said that on the special direction of the Ombudsman Punjab Khalid Mehmood, CCO was to take necessary measure along with all stakeholders in making joint strategy for the effective implementation of child right Laws. He said that the welfare of children is the responsibility of all the concerned departments.
Senior Manager, Bunyad Foundation Nasira Chaudhary said that all departments and NGOs should fully cooperate with CCO to achieve the goal ie protection of child rights. Director Lahore Division, Benazir Income Support Programme's Muhammad Khalid Mehmood said that a chapter about child right laws should be should be made a part of the syllabus to make the children aware about their rights.
Deputy Director, PIDA, Nosheen Fazal said that children complaint office should expand their access because the venerable and illiterate children of the far-flung areas would also share the benefits of their rights. She said that the Farmer Council of Irrigation Department could play a vital role in helping the CCO to communicate their message to the targeted children.
