Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Thursday transferred National Insurance Corporation Limited (NICL) case against PML-Q MPA Moonis Elahi and others to District and Sessions Judge Lahore. The chief justice also directed the federal government to issue a notification at the earliest in order to confer the powers of special court (banking offences) upon the session judges so that he could start proceedings.
On July 5, last judge special court for banking offences Malik Abdul Rasheed had refused to hear the NICL land scam case following a heated debate with counsel for Moonis Elahi and referred the case to LHC registrar.
