With the withdrawal of MQM from the government, the addition of PML (F) to the seats of power, the efforts of PML (N) to create a grand alliance and the refusal of Imran Khan to join it, the politicians of Pakistan are putting every effort to attract the attention of public towards them. The media following her SOP (standard operating procedures), is trying to create a storm in a cup of tea but the people of Pakistan are way ahead of these issues now.
They had been taking interest in this tug-of-war, but when the politicians proved, time and again, that they have mastered the art of producing no results year after year, people are no more concerned with all the fuss (read: Pakistani politics). The problems of the people are simple; they have nothing to do with the grand alliance or the 18th Amendment because their issue can be described best as survival. The killing streak in the city that has been bleeding it for long now has deprived the citizens of any sense of security.
With Ramazan coming, people are looking for alternatives to basic needs as a price hike is on the cards. I am sure that "Sailani ka Dasterkhwan" will have to increase their supply manifold as people won't be able to afford the 'luxury' of Iftar anymore.
With people living with all this chaos, the Noora-Kushti of politicians to steal the spotlight of the media is not enough to get the attention of masses. People have no hope either in this system or in the leadership because they have now realised that 'Democracy is the best revenge (to the people)'. If all this internal crap is not enough, our army is adding more and more substance to it as the operation in North Waziristan is in progress.
It goes without saying that military operation costs a lot, but our leadership, both military and civil, is loyal enough to their Western masters to spend millions and millions for the American war on terror, despite their own people dying of hunger and poverty. People have been whirled into survival problems so badly that they can't even think of what's going on around them. Obviously, when survival is at stake, all other thoughts are pushed back and this is the very condition of the people of Pakistan.
