Raw sugar futures tumbled almost 4.5 percent Thursday as investor sales snowballed, and other soft commodities also sank on worries a stuttering global economy will hit demand. New York's October raw sugar contract fell 0.90 cent or by 3.04 percent to trade at 29.34 cents per lb at 12:45 pm EDT (1645 GMT).
New York's September cocoa contract slipped $14 to end at $3,156 per tonne. ICE September arabica futures fell 6.60 cents or by 2.5 percent to trade at $2.5735 per lb at 12:49 pm.
