Pakistan physically disabled cricket team defeated physically handicapped team of Afghanistan in the opening match of the Two-T20 and three One-Day in the first friendship cricket series, which got under way here at University Campus ground on Thursday.
Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Professor Dr Azmat Hayat was the chief guest on this occasion. He also garlanded the visiting Afghanistan and Pakistan teams before the start of the first Twenty20 match. The Afghanistan team, which arrived a day earlier on the invitation of a NGO Special Life Foundation for a five-match series including two Twenty20 matches and three one-dayers. Member of the Special Life Foundation Pakistan led by Ayaz Khan, officials of the Directorate of Sports University of Peshawar including Director Sports Bahre Karam and spectators were also present.
Earlier, Pakistan Disable team won the toss and elected to bat first by setting up 210 runs target for the loss of two wickets after playing long 35 overs. It was a great century by Ashraf Khan who smashed unbeaten 103 runs not out, Muhammad Adeel (45) runs, Gohar Afridi (25), Saqib not out (13) were the key scorers. For Afghanistan Asghar and Nabi Ullah took one wicket each.
In reply, Afghanistan Physically Disable Cricket team bowled out for 120 runs in 16 overs. Asghar scored 13 runs, Safi Ullah scored 25 runs, Nabi Ullah 18, Farid (20), Jahanzeb (12) were the key contributors. Younis Khan grabbed three wickets, Zia Noor claimed three wickets, Sher Ali, Adil and Tahir got one wicket each. The match was supervised by Salim and Asif Afridi were umpires while Amir Khan acted as scorer.
