During 17th roll signing ceremony of the newly-enrolled lawyers of Supreme Court on Saturday, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry emphasised the legal fraternity to show zero tolerance to corruption in judiciary to ensure transparent dispensation of justice.
As many as 29 lawyers including 2 female advocates were enrolled whose registration documents were signed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The CJP stressed the recently enrolled advocates of SC to observe constitutional mandate while pleading for remedy and show full dedication to the cause of administration of justice.
The CJP said that many judicial officers were fired whereas all the Chief Justices of High Court in the country were committed to root out corruption from the judiciary. He maintained that the goal of administration of justice could not be achieved without the co-operation and active participation of advocates.
He categorically said that lawyers' movement for the supremacy of Constitution and independence of judiciary brought revolution with the support of all the segments of the society so it was the duty of legal fraternity to redress litigants' grievances at the earliest.
Of the 29 lawyers, 13 lawyers are from Balochistan, 13 from Punjab, 2 from Sindh and 1 from KPK. The SC lawyers who singed the roll were Ejaz-ul-Haq, Muhammad Imtiaz Khan, Syed Mehmood Abbas, Munir Ahmed Khan Kakar, Sher Muhammad Khan, Tahir Hussain Khan, Bashir Ahmed, Syed Shabbir Hussain Shah, Khalid Abbasi, Hameed Ullah Khan, Zubair Naseem Khawaja, Sanaullah Ababaki, Abdul Aziz Khan Khilji, Iqbal Ahmed Kasi, Muhammad Rauf Hashmi, Manzar Siddique, Ms. Sarwat Mukhtar, Rizwan Amjad Chaudhry, Sikandar Zulqarnain Saleem, Abdul Hameed Chohan, Aleem Baig Chughtai, Amjad Farooq, Nadeem Mehmood, Syed Amir Ali Shah, Muhammad Akram Gondal, Ms. Fouzia Sultana Sheikh, Munawar Iqbal Gondal, Sarfraz Khan Gondal and Afzal Ali Haider.
