At least eight persons including a senior activist of Pakistan Peoples Party were killed in shootout at various parts of the metropolis, here on Saturday. President of People's Unity CBA PIA, Syed Ahmer Ali Shah, son of Safdar Ali and his friend Mairaj Khalid Jagirani, son of Ghulam Sarwar were shot dead at Munawar Chowrangi in the jurisdiction of Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station.
Armed assailants sprayed Ahmer and Mairaj with bullets, with the result both succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a private hospital. On hearing the news, scores of PPP workers and leaders rushed to the hospital. The victim was the President of People's Unity CBA PIA and was the resident of Sindh Baloch Co-operative Housing Society, Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Deputy Information Secretary Karachi Sohail Abdi condemned the incident, saying that the victim had been associated with the party for last 18 years and was a close friend of Senator Faisal Raza Abdi. Following the incident, tension gripped Gulistan Jauhar where all shops and markets were closed due to uncertain condition. Miscreants set a bus (JA-1210) on fire and forced the shopkeepers to pull down their shutters. No case was registered till filing of this report.
Namaz-e-Janaza will be offered at Ashraf ul Madaris on Sunday and he will be buried at Airport graveyard. A man was shot dead near Meteorological Department, Gulshan Iqbal in the jurisdiction of Mobina Town police station. The victim Gul Mohammad Khan, 38 son of Khair Gul was targeted while he was sitting at Subhan Allah Hotel.
Two teenagers were killed after having been kidnapped at Old Haji Camp in the limits of Napier Police station. Police found two bodies of teenage boys stuffed in gunny bags at Timber Market Old Haji Camp. Police said the victims, who had received single bullet each on their heads, had several torture marks on their bodies.
The victims, who have been identified as 18-year-old Tabraiz, son of Akbar and Feroz, 19, son of Akbar, were the residents of Metroville Site. Police shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for legal formalities. A young man was shot dead at Islam Chowk, Orangi Town in the limits of Pakistan Bazaar police station. The victim was identified as Anwar, 23 son of Jamal. Police said he had no political affiliation.
Police found beheaded body of a man from Marwari area in the limits of Pak Colony police station. The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained. A case was registered against unidentified men on the complaint of the State. In another incident, a man was gunned down at Bhains Colony in the limits of Sukkun police station. The victim Mohammad Nadeem, 30, son of Nawaz was targeted while sitting outside his the cattle farm situated at Chokandi Mor, Bhains Colony. Police shifted injured Nadeem to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment where he died during treatment.
