The Federal Board of Revenue has extended computer based facilitation to the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) for collection of sales tax on services by allowing taxpayers providing services in Sindh to copy their enrolment particulars from the FBR-web portal to the SRB portal. The FBR has issued a letter to the SRB here on Monday to facilitate the business community of Sindh.
Sources told Business Recorder that the FBR has also issued instructions to the Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (Pral), the IT arm of the FBR for setting up an electronic link between the FBR and the SRB for facilitating the taxpayers to swiftly copy their enrolment particulars from the FBR IT system to the IT system of the SRB. By implementing the new system, taxpayers required to be registered with the SRB will be able to get user ID and passwords for the SRB within minutes instead of re-feeding all the particulars in the computer system of the SRB.
This facility has been launched at the website of the SRB, which can be accessed by visiting the SRB website. The biggest advantage to the taxpayers is that they would not be required to fill any new registration forms in the presence of this swift enrolment process.
According to sources, as such the SRB has adopted the National Tax Number (NTN) as unique identifier which can be used by writing ''S'' before the NTN. Therefore, a person getting e-enrolment at the SRB portal will continue to be e-enrolled at the FBR web portal as well. Hence, the unique identifier will be used by the taxpayers in making transactions with the FBR as well as the SRB without maintaining separate IDs for both the tax administrations for all taxes such as income tax, sales tax, Sindh sales tax, customs duty and Federal Excise Duty, etc.
This gesture of the federal and provincial tax administrations has been appreciated by the taxpayers and the business community, sources added.
