The Judicial Commission, probing the mysterious killing of renowned journalist Saleem Shahzad, recorded statements of two persons while Punjab Police handed over 48 items, recovered from the vehicle of slain journalist to the commission.
The commission meeting was held in the Supreme Court on Monday with Justice Mian Saqib Nisar in the chair. After the meeting, Federal Secretary Information and Broadcasting, Taimur Azmat Usman, who is also secretary of the commission, told media that it was the fourth meeting of the commission, adding that police were also conducting investigation parallel to the commission.
He informed that Saleem Shahzad' email record was being scanned by the concerned authorities whereas the commission has received almost all the record of his cell phone, adding that Punjab Police has submitted investigation record and Toll Plazas record of GT Road between Islamabad, Tarkai and Jhelum.
Taimur rejected an impression that a person arrested from Layhia was involved in Journalist' killing and said that it was misreported in the media, adding that Faizan and Saleem Shahzad's brother in law recorded their statements before the commission. The secretary concluded that the commission shall resume its meeting on Tuesday (today) where journalists shall record their statements.
