A meeting of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI)'s Punjab Election Cell was held on Monday to devise a strategy to identify the national and provincial assembly members of PTI.
President PTI Punjab, Ahsan Rasheed presided over the meeting. The procedure was evolved in the meeting to increase communication between the members. Committees to evaluate the efficiency of the provincial constituency organisers were also formed in the meeting. Sardar Arif Rasheed, Omar Sarfaraz Cheema, Ejaz Chaudhry, Mian Mehmood, Dr Shahid Siddique, Amin Zaki, Salooni Bukhari, Ejaz Minhas, Hamid Mairaj and Mansoor Sarwar were present.
Meanwhile, the PTI office bearers expressed deep concern over skyrocketing prices of food items before Ramadan. They said last year, prices of food items were unaffordable for poor people in Ramadan. "Every year in the month of Ramadan, profit makers raise the prices of food items significantly due to which poor people suffer badly but government does not try to control prices," they added.
They said that the governments in other Islamic countries try to facilitate Muslims in the holy month of Ramadan but in Pakistan the government remains quiet.
The PTI leaders demanded of the government to liberate people from the clutches of stockholders and profit makers and food items should be sold on reasonable or rather cheaper prices so that poor people could also enjoy the blessings of Ramadan like other Muslims around the world. They also demanded an emergency and indiscriminate crackdown on stockholders and profiteers in Punjab.
