Renowned analyst Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi said that cordial relations should be established with the neighbouring countries according to the practical considerations. Talking to a private news channel on Tuesday, he said Pakistan did not have good relations with India and it would take time even if both the counties decide to have good relations.
He said Afghanistan was a war-torn country and immediate peace was not expected there, therefore "we have no problem with our neighbour Iran". The situation on both the sides was peaceful and there was a huge potential of widening the bilateral relations with Iran, he added.
He said Pakistan and Iran could help each other a lot on many issues. Pakistan's former Foreign Secretary Tanvir Ahmad Khan said Pak-Iran relations would help bring peace in the region, especially in Afghanistan.
He expressed pleasure over the visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to Iran.
He said Pak-Iran co-operation in various sectors would strengthen relations of both the countries, added that Pakistan could not resolve its energy crisis without assistance of Iran.
Tanvir Ahmad was of the view that Iranian gas supply could help resolve energy crisis in Pakistan. He said gas pipeline would be constructed within six month to get supply of gas from Iran.
