Participants at a function have called for abolishment of Frontier Crime Regulation (FCR) to mainstream the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and demanded for stoppage of growing human right violation in tribal areas.
In this regard, post cards launching ceremony against FCR in Fata held under the auspices of National Juvenile Justice Network (NJJN) here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Wednesday.
The keynote speakers were included Mohammad Akbar Ali Shah, Noor Alam Advocate, Ms Sherin, Shams Mohmand, and social activists from Fata and journalists.
Speakers said that the tribal people, especially children and women are the worst affected due to growing human rights violation in Fata, saying that the FCR is panacea of all ills in tribal areas.
Referring a FCR section 21, they said that a person couldn't allow for entering city within proper evidence under the section, which was totally injustice and violation of human rights.
Speakers said that the section has also made responsible family or tribe over any wrongdoing of their family member, in which he proclaimed offender or accuse. They said that the property has also confiscated by arresting them under the section, even the relatives were not allowed meet them in the prison.
More than, 11 children were detained under the FRC in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa prison during last year, they informed. The speakers maintained that in current year, around 112 children have been detained under the same clause of FCR.
Similarly, they said that the FCR clause IV has allowed to flogging, which is banned in the country from 1996. The speakers said the Pakistan is bounded to ensure human rights in the country as signatory of UN convention on Children Rights and International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
They recalled that President Asif Ali Zardari had made announcement for abolishment of the colonial law Frontier Regulation Crime (FCR) in Fata in 2009 and termed that it's a draconian law.
In this regard, the speakers said that Prime Minister, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, had also made a commitment during his maiden speech at floor of the parliament. They alleged that the decision was yet to be implemented due of pressure of elected representative from Fata.
The Juvenile Justice Network has demanded of President Asif Ali Zardari to amend in the laws and regulation of National Assembly and Senate to pave way for mingling of Fata in the network also demanded for abolishment of FRC and implementation of Constitution of Pakistan in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) in order to stop growing human rights violation in the region.
