Japanese developer finds a way to erase your face using iPhone X
iPhone X’s Face ID feature was used for various purposes in the phone, however, one thing the feature can do was not known until now, which is that it can make faces go invisible with the help of an app.
Spotted by Design Taxi at first, using the TrueDepth camera of the phone to make the app, a Japanese developer Kazuya Noshiro posted a video on his Twitter account demonstrating his erased face leaving just his eyes and mouth. He called the creepy hack as an ‘optical camouflage’ and accepted the fact that even he had no idea what this trick could be used for.

Apple’s executive believes Android’s Facial ID feature ‘stinks’
Noshiro used a game development platform ‘Unity’ to shoot the background with a fixed camera. Through the TrueDepth camera, the app camouflages the user’s face and replaces it with whatever there is in the background. Though he did not completely explain how he worked the trick, but it is most probable that he first recorded the environment behind him and then masked out his face, inserting the background later on. Thanks to the iPhone X’s motion sensors, everything could be synchronized with the camera movement, reported Engagdet.
“If you want to make your face transparent, we’re recruiting,” Noshiro joked. However, it is not known when this app will be released and what good it would be for, The Verge wrote.
