Asif Saeed Sindhu, MD/CEO, OGDCL handed over the first copy of Pakistan Basin Study (PBS) Report to Asim Murtaza Khan, MD, PPL in a ceremony held in OGDCL Head Office here on Tuesday. On this occasion M Asim, MD PPL praised the significant efforts made by OGDCL.
Sher Muhammad Khan, Director General Concession said that this report will play an important role to enhance the exploration activities in Pakistan. MD, OGDCL thanked MD PPL and other E&P companies who realised the importance of Pakistan Basin Study Report and showed great interest in the report. Also present in the ceremony were former, MD, PPL, Khalid Rehman, GM (Exploration) PPL, Moeen Raza Khan, Qazi Muhammad Saleem Siddiqui, Director DGPC, GM (Exploration) OGDCL, and professionals of Basin Study Project.
The PBS Report was prepared by the OGDCL on the direction of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources. Renowned UK based consultant and geosciences Services Company; M/s Fugro Robertson Ltd (FRL) conducted the study. The study was completed in four-year time by a large number of FRL geoscientists and OGDCL counterparts.
The PBS Report covers all onshore and offshore sedimentary basins of Pakistan, which contains huge volume of data/information including 126,000 Line Kilometers seismic data, 10,000 G&G reports and 1000 well data etc.
The MD/CEO, OGDCL has invited all multinational and Pakistani E&P companies operating in Pakistan in this promotion campaign, many oil and gas companies have expressed their willingness to purchase the PBS Report. The interested E&P companies abroad will also be approached to take advantage of this report to participate in the hydrocarbon exploration opportunities in Pakistan.
This report will provide countrywide assessments of petroleum plays ranging in age from infra-Cambrian to Pleistocene, embodied in a series of play fairway maps accompanied by mega regional, reappraisal and re-mapping of the relevant reservoir facies and ranking of the areas on the basis of their petroleum prospectivity, potential reserves, economic viability and recommendations for future exploration strategies.-PR
