Mercedes-AMG future electric cars might sound like Linkin Park
Even though electric vehicles (EV) are noiseless, they do generate artificial noise to warn pedestrians. Mercedes-AMG is, however, taking this to a whole new level as Linkin Park will shape the sound of its future EVs.
Mercedes-AMG, commonly known as AMG, is the high performance division of Mercedes-Benz. AMG partnered with Linkin Park, making it one if its ‘partners in performance’. CEO Tobias Moers said, “You know Linkin Park? I started to talk with these guys about what is their interpretation of electrified sound. We sell emotions and sound is really a crucial part of emotion, so what we do is work on artificial sounds because you have to.”
However, it is not yet clear what part the rock band will play as few other audio experts will also help shape the EV’s tones. While talking to Wheels, Moers said, “We started off years ago. We established a team doing artificial sound and we worked together with games specialists, we worked together with film artists doing sound for films.”

Moreover, according to Moers, there is still a lot of time for these EVs to come into action. Mercedes has already started to plan manufacturing its Generation EQ electric vehicles by 2019, the AMG EVs won’t come out until mid 2020s or maybe a little before that, reported Engagdet.
The electric AMG concept will be similar to the AMG GT Concept the company revealed earlier this year. The car comes in with a massive 600kW with a combination of V8 turbo power and electric drive that promises good performances of the future AMG cars. “What you have seen in the GT concept with rear-axle hybrid system is more or less our understanding of how we are going to electrify powertrains in performance cars.”
