Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the government will implement all orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. He was talking to media at the launching of sale of plots at the Pakistan Textile City held at Sindh Governor House here on Saturday.
The Prime Minister said that no institution would want to derail the system, revived with many efforts and sacrifices of lawyers and political workers. "Both government and judiciary realise that the system had revived after long efforts and tremendous sacrifices", he added.
"We respect all the institutions", he said, adding that all institutions have their rights given by the constitution of the country. "We will remove the misunderstanding and not let the system derail", he added. In the case of Sohail Ahmed and Hussain Asghar, the Prime Minister said: "The government will implement all orders of the Supreme Court."
About prevailing law and order situation in Karachi, he said that Karachi is financial hub of the country and restoration of peace in the city is top priority of the government. "The peace in Karachi is in the greater national interest", he said, and appealed to all political leadership to play their due role in restoration of peace and stability in the city. However, he made it clear that the law and order is the responsibility of the provincial government. The provincial government is capable to deal with the issue, he said, and assured of federal government's support in intelligence information sharing and capacity building. "The federal government is ready to provide all support to the provincial government if needed", he said.
The Prime Minister pointed out that he had talked with MQM chief Altaf Hussain on phone on the prevailing law and order situation in Karachi. The Prime Minister appreciated the solidarity and support expressed by Altaf Hussain for the Amn-Rally organised by Pakistan People's Party. Regarding possibilities of MQM rejoining the government, the Prime Minister said: "MQM is with us".
About possibility of holding all parities conference for restoration of peace in Karachi, he said if the provincial government initiates such a move, the federal government would participate. The Prime Minister said that the devolution process under the 18th constitutional amendment would be fully implemented with its spirit. The matter of devolution process has been discussed at the meeting of Council of Common Interests (CCI) and would be completed according to constitutional amendment, he added.
