The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has constituted committees in all major cities for monitoring of the collection of sales tax from steel sector to improve compliance by the steel units. In this connection, the FBR issued a sales tax general order (STGO) 4 of 2011 here on Saturday.
According to the STGO, the Board has constituted committees for monitoring of sales tax collection from steel sector under Chapter XI of the Sales Tax Special Procedure Rules, 2007. The Chief Commissioners of the respective Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) or an officer not below the rank of Commissioner nominated by him shall be Chairman of the Monitoring Committee to monitor the activity and collection of sales tax from steel sector within their respective jurisdiction. The Chairman of the monitoring Committee shall hold regular meetings on his own or on request of the members of the Committee so that due tax is collected in an effective and efficient manner from this sector, the FBR said.
In Lahore/Faisalabad, the members of the committee include Mian Ahmed Hassan, Batala Steel (Pvt) Ltd, 16-km Shaikhpura Road, Lahore; Muhammad Saeed, Madina Steel Industries, c/o Dawood Steel Casting, Momanpura Road, Daroghawala, Lahore; and Muhammad Ashraf, Punjab Concast (Pvt) Ltd, 13-km, Shaikhpura Road, Lahore.
In Islamabad/Hattar, the members of the committee are Khalid Javed, Ittehad Foundry, Near R-Castl, E-Industrial Estate, Hattar (Dist Haripur); and Javed Iqbal, Karachi Steel (Pvt) Ltd, Plot No 191-192, Sector 1/10, Industrial Area, Islamabad. The member of the committee within the division of Karachi is Imdad Hussain, Frontier Foundry (Pvt) Ltd, Plot No 166, Road B-7, Hayatabad Industrial Estate, Peshawar.
The committee member for Peshawar included Muhammad Dawood Khan, Hattat Steel Re-rolling Mills, Plot No 8-9, Phase-4, Industrial Estate, Hattar (Dist Haripur). Within the jurisdiction of Gujranwala/Sialkot/Daska and Narowal, the committee members are Rafique Steel Casting, S.I.E. No 2, Gujranwala; Major (R) Anjum Pervaz, Khawaja Steel Industries, Khawaja Nagar, Dewan Road, Eminabad, Gujranwala; and Liaqat Ali, Islamabad Steel Furnace, S.I.E No 2, Gujranwala.
