To enforce law, regulate traffic, ensure safety and above all, provide timely and effective help is the mission of National Highways and Motorway Police which it has successfully observed so far and will carry on to observe with full devotion. This was stated by the Inspector General NH&MP, Zafarullah Khan while inspecting the passing out parade of 170 Junior Patrol Officers who passed third Basic Recruit Course at NH&MP Training College.
170 officers took part in the six-month course that comprised of basic course, driving course, wireless course and security related course. Zafarullah Khan distributed certificates and shields among the position holders of the course and staff of NH&MP training college.
While talking to the media, IG NH&MP said that Transparency International has rated Motorway Police at 13th position among most transparent departments in world and Asian Development declared it as a role model for others. He further said that ever since its inception in 1997 NH&MP has reduced accident ratio by 70 percent by maintaining better discipline on roads through briefing, education and equal implementation of law. The IGP said that 19 road Safety Institutions have been established all over Pakistan for producing drivers with better sense of road discipline.
Later, Zafarullah Khan inaugurated the renovated Guidance Centre and Road Safety Institute situated at Thokar Niaz Baigh Lahore. SSP Inkasar Khan briefed IG about the working of Guidance Centre and establishment of Road Safety Institutes in Okara and Sahiwal in next phase. IGP NH&MP also announced grant of rupee worth five lakhs for efficient working of Guidance Center. DIG N-5 Central Fateh Sher Joyia, DIG Motorway Dr Shafiq, DIG Training Shahid Yar Khan, Commandant Training Institute SSP Jahanzeib Khan Jogezai, SSP Central-I Inkasar Khan, other high officials of motorway police and families of passed out JPOs were also present on the occasion.
