Pakistan received $ 2.5 billion foreign assistance during 2010-11, including loans worth $ 1.8 billion and grants of $ 668 million, which was around 0.9 billion rupees less than the revised figure for the year, indicated in the 2011-12 budget documents. The budget documents showed total external resource inflow of 290 billion rupees, or around 3.4 billion rupees, lower than the budgetary target of 387 billion rupees.
Actual receipts, according to the figures obtained by this correspondent, were around 213 billion rupees. Sources told Business Recorder that during the last fiscal, the country received $ 565 million project loans--$ 450 million loans, and $ 114 million grants.
"Under Tokyo pledges, $ 295 million was received. Out of this amount, $ 63 million was extended as loans, and $ 231 million as grants", sources said. Sources said, "$897 million have been received as project assistance including $816 million as loans and $ 81 million as grants, while $ 97 million was received for earthquake assistance, including $ 78 million as loans and $ 19 million as grants".
For the Afghan refugees R.A, $ 6.1 million were received as grants while for floods $ 635.9 million was received as foreign assistance including $ 420.3 million as loans and $ 215.6 million as grants.
Sources said that $ 898 million was disbursed as project aid to different sectors during the year 2010-11. The agriculture sector has been provided $ 21 million as project aid during the last fiscal year, $ 16 million for the earthquake R.A, $ 22 million for the Education and Training sector, $ 5 million for the Environment sector, $ 38 million for Governance, Research and Statistics, $ 32 million for health and nutrition, $ 1 million for Industry and Commerce, $ 11 million for Physical Planning and Housing, $ 415 million for the power sector, $ 68 million for Rural Development and Poverty Reduction, $ 27 million for Science and Technology, $ 6 million for Social Welfare, $ 189 for Transport and Communication sector , and $ 40 million has been disbursed to the Water Sector.
