Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has described the remarks of Interior Minister Rehman Malik against Tableeghi Jamaat as irresponsible and said that the federal government should refrain from making such statements.
In a press statement, here on Sunday the chief minister said that Rehman Malik has shown a highly irresponsible attitude by making such a statement and his explanation in this regard is not sufficient.
It may be added that Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik was reported to have said that Tablighi Jamaat is supporting extremists in Pakistan and also breeding terrorists. He pointed out Tablighi Jamaat's major location Raiwind, where every year a very big gathering of Muslims from all over the world get together. Malik said Tablighi Jamaat Raiwind is involved in brain washing of terrorists
However, later on, Rehman Malik took a U-turn from his previous controversial statement and said that he respects Tablighi Jamaat and that Raiwind Markaz not engaged any type of terror activists and some media reports changed his statement which resulted confusion.
