The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Pakistan (SSHRCP), Higher Education Commission organised a three-day workshop for Editors of Journals of Islamic Studies and Arabic journals at Bara Gali Camp, University of Peshawar.
The workshop was aimed at enhancing the quality of research journals, making the editing process more contemporary and at par with international standards, discussing modern research methodologies in editing, introducing emerging trends in editing, building an interaction among editors and promoting code of ethics.
The participants highlighted issues and challenges faced by them relating to indexing, abstracting, peer-reviewing and publication process involved in their respective journals. Leading academicians were invited to offer their expertise as resource persons.
The participants lauded contributory role of HEC in setting-up guidelines and criteria, which substantially improved quality of research. They thanked HEC for delivering a presentation on HEC criteria for recognition, publication and funding of a research journal. The Council is planning to conduct similar workshops for Editors of research journals of other subjects falling under Social Sciences, Art, Humanities and Business Education.-PR
