The second meeting of the Joint Commission between Pakistan and South Africa was held in Pretoria at the premises of South African Department of International Relations and Co-operation (DIRCO). The Pakistani delegation, led by Munawar Saeed Bhatti, Additional Foreign Secretary, was composed of Zaigham Uddin Azam, High Commissioner of Pakistan, Pretoria and officials of Economic Affairs Division, Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The South African delegation led by H.E. Ambassador Sisa Ngombane, Deputy Director General was composed by Ambassador S Francis Moloi, DIRCO and officials of South African Departments: Corporate Service, DOJ and Constitutional Dev, DHET, DTI, DHA, DAC, DOL and SAPS.
In light of the understanding reached earlier at the first Joint Commission meeting, substantive deliberations took place in the meeting in a cordial and constructive manner on a number of relevant aspects relating to the bilateral trade, enhanced economic co-operation, identifying areas of mutual co-operation and consular / immigration issues.
Both sides agreed for close interaction between various Ministries to deliberate in-depth on related aspects and propose concrete steps to move forward in a responsible and conscientious manner. Both sides agreed that the next meeting of the Joint Commission will be held in Islamabad in March 2012.-PR
