The top brass of Islamabad Police have claimed that effective policing has brought the crime rate to lowest ebb and the force will continue making efforts until complete elimination of the crime. The overall crime rate in Islamabad decreased significantly and recovery rate of drugs, weapons also increased due to efficient policing techniques being adopted by the force under command of IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan, said a spokesman of Islamabad Police here on Wednesday.
He said that the commitment and devotion of personnel of Islamabad Police despite several constraints made them successful against the criminal elements during the first six months of this year. A total of 3196 cases were registered during the first six month of year 2010 while 3607 cases in the year 2011, but the difference is not due to increase in crime incidents, but owing to good performance and cases registered in police stations after recovery of weapons, narcotics, under foreign act and also of miscellaneous cases under anti-beggary act, 188 PPC, 420, 468 PPC and interference in official working, the spokesman said.
About 319 cases of drug recovery were registered in police stations of Islamabad during first six months of 2010, while recovery rate increased in the corresponding period of the year 2011 and a total of 545 cases were registered. Policing has become very much tough job in the present situation, but one should appreciate those performing well as the ratio of the total traced cases and countering terror threats is really appreciable. IGP Bani Amin and SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan devised comprehensive security and patrolling plan during the year 2011, which remained very effective in controlling the crime.
