The Punjab government is determined to provide state-of-the-art healthcare facilities to the labourers and is taking all out measures in this regard, Punjab Labour Minister Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi, said. While addressing the 113th governing body meeting of Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) here on Wednesday, he said that government will set up new social security hospitals apart from upgrading the existing hospitals.
He said that FCPS part II training will be allowed at Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital Multan Road, Lahore while Nawaz Sharif Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences will be setup at the hospital for the postgraduate training. The meeting was attended by Secretary Labour, Commissioner PESSI, high-ranking officials of labour, health, finance and other departments.
The meeting accorded approval of the terms and conditions for the affiliation of private medical colleges with the PESSI hospitals and a committee has been formed for finalising the procedure. It also approved the increase in pay and allowances of PESSI employees as well as the pension of the PESSI pensioners. It approved the expenditure for the doctors and paramedical teams formed for the flood affectees. Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi said that government is giving top priority to the provision of state-of-the-art healthcare facilities to the labourers and the main objective of the labour department is to provide free of cost comprehensive healthcare facilities to the workers and their family members.
