Islamabad Traffic Police, during the first seven months of the current year, imparted education about traffic rules to 416,135 persons with the aim to create self-responsibility among the road users to ensure traffic discipline in the city. The education wing of the ITP during the last seven months visited 64 institutions and arranged informative workshops during which it imparted education about traffic rules to 416,135 persons, said a spokesman of ITP, here on Thursday.
He said that the Senior Superintendent of Police (traffic), Dr Moeen Masood monitored the overall education campaign mainly initiated by the education wing of ITP, the spokesman said. The education teams visited seven education institutions, 21 government organisations, seven religious seminaries and 18 non-government organisations and arranged special workshops there. Personnel of these teams mainly delivered road safety options among participants of workshop and focused to inculcate sense of responsibility among the road users.
ITP also involved different organisations in its road education campaign and overall nine programmes were launched through their co-operation to disseminate the message about safe road environment. In different exhibitions, six stalls were also installed by ITP and personnel of the force gave road safety options to the visitors.
Moreover, colourful painting competitions and quiz were arranged in the various educational institutions to promote the friendly image of the force and take on-board students in the efforts for making journey safe in Islamabad. Minor students of various schools were also called to drive bicycle in the parks at the premises of ITP headquarters and educate them about road safety measures. Dr Moeen Masood has said that these efforts would continue until making the federal capital accident-free.
