First broad daylight robbery in the holy month of Ramazan was made in the limits of Saudabad police where six armed bandits ran away with a bagful of Rs 4.6 million from a branch of private bank on Friday. According to the police, at around 9am six armed robbers entered into a bank situated at Malir town area within the limits of Saudabad police station and held the employees hostages.
Police said the armed robbers completed their operation within just 5 minutes and escaped from the scene in leaps and bounds. They further said the robbers looted Rs 4.6 million from cash counter and other valuables from the staff. Meanwhile, SHO Zulfiqar Bajwa said five bandits entered in the bank while one of their accomplices left outside for backup support. He said they took away Rs 4.6 million along with seven mobile phones of the staffers.
He said that the bandits while entering in the bank destroyed the cameras installed in the building besides taking all tapes of CCTV footage along with the looted money. He said the case in this regard has been registered against unidentified armed robbers on the complaint of bank manager Mukhtiar. However, the police have also detained all security guards of bank for interrogation. Bajwa said that all security guards were suggesting doubt in this incident as they did not show any resistance during robbery.
