The Pakistan Army Promotion Board has approved the promotion of 19 Brigadiers to the rank of Major General on Wednesday. The decision to this effect was made at the promotion board meeting held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi with Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani in the chair. Sources said that around 76 promotion cases of Brigadiers were brought under consideration before the Promotion Board.
However, the Board selected 19 brigadiers against the available posts. The Brigadiers who qualified for promotion as Major Generals are: Umar Durrani, Tariq Masood, Ahmed Mahmood, Tahir Jawed, Nazir Batt, Mazhar Saleem, Amir Riaz, Najam ul Hassan, Muhammad Jafar, Ali Abbas, Malik Abbas, Malik Badshah Hussain, Shahab Naqvi, M Junaid, Ghulam Qamar, Abid Rafiq, Asif Khatak, Saleem Raza and Jameel Rehmat.
