In order to facilitate the business community, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to extend the date for payment of sales tax/federal excise duty (FED) for the Tax Period of July 2011 upto August 20 and filing of sales tax and federal excise return upto August 30, 2011.
It is learnt here on Wednesday that the FBR has also decided to extend date for payment of sales tax and federal excise duty upto August 20, 2011. In this regard, the FBR will issue instructions to the Large Taxpayer Units (LTUs) and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) on Thursday (today). The date of filing of return would be extended taking into accounts the comments of the private sector on the proposed sales tax return. The new return would also be notified along with the extension in date for payment of taxes and filing of returns.
In view of the changes proposed by tax experts and business community, the new sales tax return would be notified. Sources said that the date for payment of sales tax and federal excise duty would be extended upto August 20, 2011. However, the last date for filing of sales tax return would be extended upto August 30, 2011.
