Despite several search operations of law enforcement agencies to bring law and order situation in control, the spate of targeted killings are still unrelenting in the city as six more persons including an activist of Pakistan People's Party and a dental surgeon lost their lives at various parts of the metropolis on Friday. According to police, an activist of PPP was shot dead in the private hospital at Gulshan Iqbal within the limits of Aziz Bhatti police station.
They said the incident took place at block 13-C Gulshan Iqbal where two armed men barged in a ward of private hospital and opened indiscriminate firing on Naveed Akhter, 45, son of Shabbir Akhter. They said the victim received fatal bullet wounds and died on the spot. The culprits managed to flee in leaps and bounds after committing the said crime.
SHO Chaudhry Irshad said the victim, a resident of Gulshan Complex located at Gulistan Jauhar block 9, was the former president of PS-119 of PPP. He said the victim was suffering from hepatitis diseases and at the time of incident, he was admitted in private trusty hospital for treatment.
He said the victim received single bullet on his head and he was the father of five. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities. A young man was gunned down while two others sustained bullets wounds near National Cricket Stadium in the limits of New Town police station.
Police said the incident took place at near National Cricket Stadium where two armed riders opened indiscriminate firing on a car (ANG-843). Resultantly a 28-year-old Saleh Mohammad alias Shoaib son of Nazeer Mohammad, Khurram Iqbal and Nawaz received bullet injuries. Later Saleh succumbed to his injuries on spot. The body and injured were shifted to JPMC for legal formalities.
Police said the victims Khurram and Nawaz, who used to run rent-a-car business, might have come under attack over personal dispute and added that at the time of incident, they were going to drop Saleh Mohammad at his home situated at Defence Phase II. A case (318/11) was registered against unidentified men on the complaints of Majid Ali and initiated probe in this case.
A dental surgeon dentist was killed at Bukhari Colony in the remits of Orangi Town police station. The victim Dr Ejaz, 38, son of Shahzad, a resident of Nusrat Bhutto Colony was targeted when he was on the way to his clinic 'National Banarasi Clinic' located at sector VIII of Orangi Town. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH). No case was registered till filing of this report.
A 23-year-old Idrees son of Khursheed, a resident of Gabol Goth, was gunned down while sitting with his friends at Asma Garden, Gulshan Iqbal police remits. He received two bullets and died on the spot. The body was shifted to JPMC for legal formalities. Police said the victim had no political and religious affiliation.
A bullet-riddled body was found at Ahsanabad Gulshan Ghazi in the precincts of Sohrab Goth police station. The victim was later identified as Arif, 19, son of Dost Mohammad, a resident of Hyderabad. They said the victim was kidnapped before having been murdered. The body was shifted to ASH for post-mortem and later moved to Edhi Morgue till identification. A case was registered against unidentified men on the complaint of state and initiated probe in this case.
Yet another man Ghulam Mustafa Baloch son of Riaz Baloch was shot dead while Kashif son of Akbar received bullet injuries at Amma Park North Karachi within the limits of Sir Syed police station. Police said the victim was the resident of Chakiwara Lyari. They said the police have detained two persons namely Khawar and Ibrahim in this case.
