A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the spacious Jinnah Auditorium of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) here on Sunday in connection with the 65th Independence Day celebrated all over the country.
The ceremony began with the recitation from Holy Quran and then participants observed a few minutes silence to honour the sacrifices of people and martyrs who had laid down their lives during the Pakistan Movement and the on-going fight against militants.
Later, Registrar BZU Waqar Ahmad Qureshi, Professor Dr Asghar Ali, Professor Dr Shahida Begum Niazi, Dr Altaf Dasti and others jointly unfurled the national flag. The national anthem was played at 9am.
Assistant Controller Muzaffar Qadir Bhatti, Chief Security Officer Col Arshad Mehmood (Retd), Security Officer Malik Khalil Khor, General Secretary Employees Welfare Association Niaz Lodhi, Professor Akram Shah, Dr Abdur Rasheed, Abdul Basit Bhatti, PRO Mirza Ijaz Bashir, Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, Asia Zulfiqar, and a large number of employees and students attended the ceremony.
