Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stressed the authorities to shun the begging bowl to take the country to comity of respectable nations. He said that the country should move with zeal to the path of education development so that the nation becomes a bastion of Islam, true to the path on which Founder of the Nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah wanted it to dwell.
He was hoisting national flag 'Sabz Hillali Parcham' in a ceremony at Shahi Qilla (Fort) Lahore on Sunday. He also inspected Guard of Honour of Rangers' contingent on the occasion.
The Chief Minister also placed a wreath and offered prayer at Mazar-e-Iqbal on the Independence Day. There was also a change of guards at Mazar-e-Iqbal during the day. Shahbaz said that there was a pile of problems in the country and unless these heaps were removed atomic program of the country was in danger. A large number of people attended the flag hoisting.
In another ceremony, Pun jab Assembly Speaker Muhammad Iqbal hoisted the national flag at Punjab Assembly premises. He said that people should make a pledge on this day that they would not allow sacrifices of their forefathers go in rot.
He vowed that they would fight out to remove poverty, inequality and other problems in the country. He said that masses would safeguard the geographical status of the country with zeal and blood and sweat. The Speaker stressed upon the nation for a unison approach to kill all menaces faced by it. Legislators, assembly staff and a large number of people were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile Muslim League faction of Nawaz Sharif held a meeting in Hazoori Bagh, Lahore. Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif was guest on the occasion. He asked the nation to unite on the occasion. In another function, national flag was hoisted in Rescue 112 premises in the City. A number of people were present on the occasion.
