The leaders of All Parties Hurriyet Conference and other pro-liberation organisations have greeted the people and government of Pakistan on their Independence Day.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC leaders, Zafar Akbar Butt, Yasmeen Raja and Mohammad Yousuf Naqash in their separate statements in occupied Srinagar, while praying for the safety and stability of the country said that August 14 had special significance in South Asia as Pakistan came into existence on this day. "We congratulate the people and government of Pakistani on their Independence Day," they said.
The APHC leaders thanked Pakistan for its continued political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris' just struggle for right to self-determination.
Supporting the call for shutdown on August 15, the Indian Independence Day, they appealed the people to make it a success. They urged New Delhi to fulfil the commitments made by its leaders with the people of Kashmir to give them their right to self-determination.
Meanwhile, the Acting Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Rifat Fatima, in her statement in occupied Srinagar also felicitated the Pakistanis on their Independence Day. She also asked the Kashmiris to observe Indian Independence Day as black day and desist from taking part in any function to be held in connection with its celebrations.
On the other hand, the APHC spokesman in a statement in occupied Srinagar said that the reign of terror unleashed by Indian police and troops in the occupied territory in the run up to India's Independence Day had exposed the real face-of the so-called largest democracy of the world. He said that on one hand, people in India were preparing to celebrate their Independence Day, while on the other, the movement of Kashmiri people was restricted.
He also called upon the Kashmiri people to observe complete shutdown on Monday (today) to convey the message to the world that they rejected Indian's illegal occupation of their soil.
