The flag-hoisting ceremony in connection with the 65th Independence Day was held on Sunday at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur. Vice Chancellor SALU, Dr Nilofar Sheikh hoisted the national flag.
Speaking on the occasion, the VC said that 14th August is the Independence Day of Pakistan. Muslim leaders, under the able guidance and visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, rendered sacrifices for the emergence of Pakistan. As a result, this country came into existence on the world map.
She said that at this juncture Pakistan is confronting several problems like sectarianism, illiteracy, terrorism and militancy adding that the above threats could be eradicated with the help of unity, education, tolerance and with the spirit of democracy. The VC said that education is an agent of change and development.
On the occasion, Dr Syed Ahmed Hussain Shah, Professor Abdul Latif Memon, Noorullah Malik, Professor Dr Taj Mohammad Lashari, Dr Ghulam Mohiuddin Veesar and large number of employees of the varsity were present.
