President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday signed the regulation for establishment of Wana Cadet College in South Waziristan Agency FATA. Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said that the Prime Minister during his address at the Governor House Peshawar on August 27, 2008, had announced the establishment of six cadet colleges to promote quality education and provide better educational opportunities to the youth of FATA.
Following the announcement the government established the Wana Cadet College in South Waziristan Agency, which has now been functional since April last. The President, under Article 247 (5) of the Constitution, today approved and signed the regulations for "Establishment of Wana Cadet College in South Waziristan Agency" as advised by the Prime Minister in terms of Rule 15(A) of the Rules of Business, 1973. Article 247 (5) of the Constitution reads: "The President may, with respect to any matter, make regulations for peace and good governance of a Federally Administered Tribal Area or any part thereof".
The President also empowered the Board of the Cadet College to make rules, with the prior approval of the Federal Government for carrying out the purposes of the regulation. The rules are also to be notified in the official gazette, he said.
The Board of the Cadet College Wana is now empowered to make rules to provide for the procedure for its meetings, custody and disbursement of funds, procedures for recruitment of the Principal, teaching staff, officers and servants of the College and Board as well as the manner in which the executive committee and standing committees shall be constituted and the allocation of functions to them., the Spokesperson said.-PR
