On the instructions of Punjab government, the he price control magistrates conducted raids on different markets to check prices of essential commodities. During the inspection, 116 shopkeepers and vendors were found involved in overpricing and were realised a total fine of rupees 105,000/.
The magistrates conducted more than 300 raids in 46 markets/bazaars in the district and action was taken against the shopkeepers involved in receiving exorbitant prices of different items of daily use. Meanwhile, 12 hotels/canteen owners were sent to jail for 72 hours for selling edible items during the hours of fasting.
