The annual Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility (AFCSR) celebrates its tenth year with its biggest conference yet as it returns to home base in Manila, Philippines at the EDSA Shangri-la Hotel on October 18 and 19, 2011. Organised by the Asian Institute of Management - Ramon V. del Rosario Sr. Center for Corporate Responsibility (AIM-RVR Center), the AFCSR is recognised as the largest and most significant conference on corporate social responsibility in Asia.
The event is supported and attended not only by senior business executives from Asia, but also by major non-government organisations throughout the region. Global giants Intel and Nestlé Philippines, inc. have joined the conference, as strategic partners and copresenters.
Over twenty-five companies have given their support as sponsors or conference partners, including platinum sponsors Manila Electric Company, Rapu-Rapu Minerals, Inc, and Sagittarius Mines, Inc. This year's forum carries the theme, Strategic CSR: Creating Shared Value, and will be supported by a new framework which positions CSR within the companies' value chain in relation to the roles and responsibilities of both internal and external shareholders with regard to company CSR projects and programmes.
Plenary and breakout discussions are expected to revolve around five core topics, namely: assessment and formulation of the firm and its "environment" culture; implementation focused on the advantages and disadvantages of sustaining CSR projects; monitoring and evaluation; embedding and encouraging CSR; and moving forward.-PR
