The city government has decided to set up a special 40-bed dengue ward at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. It has also signed an agreement with a private laboratory to supply platelet to ensure availability of necessary platelets when required.
Apart from this, fumigation drive has also been planned in all towns of the city. These decisions were taken in a meeting chaired by the Administrator Karachi, Fazlur Rehman and attended by DCO Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed, EDO Health Dr Nasir Javed, EDO Municipal Services Masood Alam and other officers.
The 40-bed special dengue ward would be consist of 20 beds each for male and female patients. In the meeting the EDO Health was directed to make an agreement with a private lab for supply of platelets while the EDO finance was instructed to issue the necessary funds in this regard. The Health Department of the City Government Karachi has arranged the 10th round of fumigation drive in different towns under malaria/dengue fever control programme from 18th August. The campaign will end on 28th August.
