Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has urged federal and provincial governments to play their role in checking black marketing of fertilisers and ensure their availability to farmers. KBP Central President, Sardar Zafar Hussein Khan in a statement, issued here Tuesday, urged federal government to play its role and ensure availability of urea fertiliser in the provinces.
He said that this matter should not be politicised. He also urged the provincial governments to play their role in stopping black marketing of fertilisers. He suggested that the chief minister should constitute special raiding teams, which should check godowns of big dealers and recover the fertiliser present in any godown and ensure its sale in the open market.
The KBP chief suggested that the license of all the dealers involved in black marketing should be cancelled. Shortage of urea fertiliser and its black marketing had multiplied the hardships being faced by the growers. He stressed that the provincial governments should not only check black marketing but also arrest all those involved in it and award them exemplary punishment.
