Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi rescued over 37,795 people successfully and saved their lives by conducting 35,085 rescue operations during last four years in Rawalpindi, said Dr Rizwan Naseer, Director General, Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122. Dr Rizwan Naseer congratulated Rawalpindi chapter of Rescue 1122 for successful completion of four years of service to people and for rescuing over 37,795 people since the Emergency Service was established on August 14, 2007 in Rawalpindi.
He said that the Service responded to emergencies including 15,807 road traffic accidents (RTA), 2,341 fire incidents, 35 building collapse, 26 explosion, 467 crime including bullet injuries, violence, robbery cases, 71 drowning incidents and 103 animals rescue operations during the 4 years.
The Service also responded to 6,235 Medical Emergency Calls from homes, provided them emergency medical treatment and shifted them efficiently to the hospitals, he said, adding that the Service average response time to all emergencies was recorded 4.9 minutes during the time. The Emergency Officer, Community Training Wing, Deeba Shahnaz Akhter presented the performance report of the community training wing. She briefed the Director General about Rawalpindi Rescue Training Wing sensitised 21104 community members and imparted 3 days Community Basic Life Support & Fire Safety Orientation training to 8695 community members during 4 years.
The Training Wing also imparted training to students of colleges during summer camps. The efforts of training wing towards community motivated organisations for establishment of Community Training Centre (CTC). In this regards 20 seaters Community Training Centre with sound system has been established at Central Rescue Station Rawalpindi with participation of different organisations.
Besides community training, the rescue trainer also sensitised 2155 first responder from Emergency Service Rescue 1122 and Police Officials from Police Service on response to a radiological emergency.
The Emergency Evacuation drills and exercises have been conducted with 20647 members in schools and hospitals. The District Emergency Officer, Dr Abdur Rahman briefed that the Rescuers of Rawalpindi District had already set an example of sacrifice and year 2008 will also the remember for those Rescuers Fire-fighter who sacrificed their life in the line of duty during rescue and fire operation at Ghakkar Plaza. He further said that to rescuers from Rawalpindi had been presented with National Youth Awards 2007 & 2008 due to their exceptional performance in rescue operations is also a great example for the Rescuers.
Dr Rizwan Naseer said rescuers are available round-the-clock for the community and people can dial emergency number in case of any emergency and disaster. He emphasised to utilised emergency service with moral responsibilities that only timely call can help emergency service in timely management in all incidents.
