Punjab Livestock Department will take benefit from indigenous research being conducted by University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences to boost production in livestock and poultry sectors. This was stated by Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Secretary Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh during a short visit to university's city campus on Wednesday.
He said that department would collaborate with the university in various areas, including human resource development, vaccine production, nutrition, disease control and get benefit latest research of the university.
Faculty of Veterinary Sciences dean Professor Dr Nasim Ahmad, faculty of animal production and technology Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology director Professor Dr Masroor Elahi Baber, Pharmacology and Toxicology chairman/director research Professor Dr Muhammad Ashraf, Institute of Pharmaceutical Science Dr Farzana Chaudhry, Pathology department chairman Professor Dr Asim Aslam, Institute of Continue Education and Extension Professor Dr Anjum Khaleeq, Nutrition department chairman Professor Dr Mukhdoom Abdul Jabbar, Pet Centre in-charge Asim Khalid and registrar Professor Dr Kamran Ashraf also briefed the Secretary Livestock Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh about the ongoing university's research and examine the available services.
Hamid Yaqoob visited university's different departments and took keen interest in internationally accredited Quality Operation Lab and University Diagnostic Lab. Secretary also held a comprehensive meeting with Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz and discussed the new update of livestock sector. He said that livestock department would introduce extension services to educate about latest research activities to the farmers.
Livestock and Dairy Development Secretary Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh said UVAS was getting marvellous growth, especially in research and contributing a lot in the in the economic development of the country. He regarded as the best university of country. UVAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz explained that low potential animals should be replaced with best genetic animals.
