According to the notification of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), Dr Iftikhar Ahmad, Director General, NARC has assumed the charge of Chairman, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC). It is to be noted that Dr Muhammad Iftikhar Ahmed got his Ph. D degree from University College of North Wales, Bangor, UK, M.Sc and B.Sc from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.
In 1975, he got training in use of Radiation and Radioisotopes in Agriculture and Biology, at the Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology (NIAB), Faisalabad, Pakistan. In 1990 he got formal training in Agricultural Research Planning, National Agricultural Research Centre, PARC Islamabad.
He also got formal training in Project Monitoring and Evaluation at the Management Services Wing, Cabinet Division, Government of Pakistan, Islamabad. He was awarded Sir William Roberts scholarship for Ph. D and M.Sc for professional studies. He got professional awards, gold medals. Besides others, he got PARC Scientist of the Year Award - 1999 for contribution in agricultural research. PARC Scientists Association Award - 1995 for contribution in agricultural research.-PR
